Projects of Interest

Road to Infinity submission

A submission for a community render challenge. Featuring some vehicles of my Dad's invention, trees from around my local shopping centre, and a photoscan of a compelling crevice on a nearby bushwalk.

Prior showreel

My previous showreel, showing not only a broader selection of my work - but also as a point of comparison to see the evolution of my work and technique.

APT9 Branding Pitch

I saw this branding for an upcoming exhibition and was immediately inspired to use this song. This resulting pitch video I made was received with rapturous enthusiasm, and was applied to all of my motion design for APT9.

Garage Ting

Lyric video filled with particle system experimentation and expressive text motion.

Motorcycles Greenscreen Activity

Modelling, animation and prerendered assets for an interactive motorcycles riding activity. Imagine a live video feed capturing the user holding a real-life set of fixed handlebars mounted in front of a greenscreen.

Dok Rak Dance

For APT10 at QAGOMA, Thai-Australian artist Vipoo Srivilasa collaborated with the Children's Art Centre to create this fun little dance along activity. Modelling, texturing, rigging, rendering, animating, and even the choreography was my contribution. Music by Brisbane-based composer Ack Kinmonth.

Greek Gods 101

Ten mythological beings animated on pots. Narrated by, and featuring references to artworks by Brisbane artist Michael Zavros.

Musical Portraits from The Met

Some of the works in the collection loaned to the gallery from The Metropolitan in New York. Very respectfully pulled apart and put back together again with a bit of sound and motion. Includes lots of experimentation with layering deep learning style transfer techniques.

Father Said

2D hand drawn animation and compositing for Thelma Plum's Father Said music video. Collaboration with filming and direction from Mooncog.

The Rainbow Stag

Built around folk tale and a single illustration of a Stag by Thai artist Jakkai. Entirely storyboarded, illustrated and animated by myself. This video was played in-space for the APT9 Children's exhibition. Colouring-in templates were supplied to kids, who would then scan their customized stag and have it displayed instantaneously in the video.

Carbon Offsetting

This video was an early foray into suggesting that carbon offsetting isn't a perfect solution, and that better carbon reduction schemes will be required.

Coffee cup disposal explainer

A video conceived to help combat people's confusion when confronted with the intricacies of disposing of disposable coffee cups.

Six tips

A wealth of well educated, intelligent and incredibly talented experts have a lot of very important things to say that a lot of people should listen to. Unfortunately, not all have the experience in portraying this information in front of a camera with the kind of performance an audience will resonate with. This is a video of disarmingly puerile pictures to be used as a prompt to easily overcome these common video presentation persona limitations.

Early forays into Flash

A first year animation project. Although very much an early learning project, in this one can see the genesis of my style of motion.

Minnie's Bowtique Character modelling

Character model turntables for characters modelled by myself for Disney Television's Minnie's Bowtique at Liquid Animation.

Water Up Late GIPHY suite

A suite of loopable stackable liquid animations for pasting over social media posts from the Up Late events tied to the Water exhibition at GOMA.

Storm in a Teacup

One of my favourite t-shirt designs.

You can buy my storm-in-a-teacup on a teacup from Redbubble and other designs and products by following this link.

Wabi-sabi

The Japanese philosophy of wabisabi (侘寂 [わび・さび]) and its ideals of beauty found in age and imperfection really resonates with me. Initially I created this design with Blender and Substance Painter before painting over it using Procreate. I wanted to add that feeling of expression of imperfection with some loose and chaotic painterly treatment.
